The College is excited to host Chef Arun Sampathavivat to kick off the Visiting Chef Series at Waterleaf restaurant on Thursday June 7th.
Chef Sampathavivat was born and raised in Trang, a southern province in Thailand. Arun grew up on his parents rubber plantation with his 8 brothers and sisters. He studied in Germany and Japan. He came to the U.S. in the 80’s and while working on his doctorate became involved it the restaurant business with some friends. The friends subsequently left the business and he was left on his own. Chef Arun will be speaking today from 2:30 to 3:30 P.M. sharing his views on Culinary arts
Well, that’s pretty cool! Arun’s has been on my list of “really fancy restaurants I’d visit if I were into really fancy restaurants” since we moved to Chicago. When I was at Brasserie, it was always Arun’s, Ambria, Charlie Trotter’s and Everest. Then everybody got all fancy.
Maybe I’ll wander over…
